Mentorship Programs
Em(POWE)r Program
This program is for:
Incoming female-identifying McGill engineering students
Duration of mentorship:
1 month
Start Date:
Early August
End Date:
Early September
Starting university can be an intimidating experience and incoming students may be unaware of the resources that McGill University or the Engineering Undergraduate Society has to offer. The Em(POWE)r program aims to ease this transition for incoming female-identifying engineering students by pairing current McGill engineering students with the incoming cohort based on their similar engineering major in hopes of providing mentorship and learning the ins and outs of life as a female engineering student. The program ends with a back-to-school social where all the mentor-mentee pairs can spend an evening over pizza and board games.
Shadow Days
This program is for:
Female-identifying high school/CEGEP students
Duration of mentorship:
1 day
Date:
Register for any day during the academic year (September-April)
Choosing your university major is a big decision, and being informed about your options can make the choice a lot easier. The Shadow Days program welcomes high school/CEGEP students who are currently applying or have already applied to McGill University’s Faculty of Engineering and gives them a chance to shadow a current engineering student. This gives the mentee an opportunity to learn more about what a day-in-the-life of an engineering student entails - this can include going to classes with the mentor, visiting hot-spots around campus like departmental lounges, the library, Frostbite ice cream store, or even just simply getting some questions answered. This program provides a personalized and friendly tour of the perks of being an engineering student at McGill! (And the tour ends with free ice cream!)
